The forty-nine papers in this set of two volumes, presented at a national seminar, organized by the Gandhigram Rural Institute, Gandhigram, in association with AICTE, New Delhi, attempt to examine the role of green productivity in resolving the major problems of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) pertaining to the environment, with special reference to India. Explaining the concept of green productivity and how to make it a perpetual movement, the contributors analyse a wide range of issues concerning the application and impact of green productivity in the fields of industry, agriculture, waste management, environment and health. The book will be useful for researchers, academicians and the policy-makers. About the Author Dr. M. Soundarapandian is Professor of Rural Industries and Management and Head of the Department of Rural Industries and Management, Gandhigram Rural Institute  Deemed University, Gandhigram. He did his post graduation in Economics, Business Administration and Education at Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai and later he obtained a Doctorate in Economics from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai. He has published 117 Articles in various National and International Journals and in the edited books to his credit. He has also published 24 books in various field of Rural Industries and Management, Economics and Entrepreneurship Development. He has completed 25 years of teaching experience at Post Graduate Level. Dr. M. Soundarapandian has conducted 17 minor and major research projects with the financial assistance of UGC, ICSSR, Ministry of Rural Development, BGVS, New Delhi and State Resource Centre for Non-formal Education, Chennai. Under the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) many skill development training programmes are conducted for the promotion of Self-Help Groups in Tamil Nadu and he also completed an action project on Entrepreneurship Development in Tsunami affected area of Tamil Nadu funded by International Labour Organisation (ILO), Geneva. Under his guidance and supervision 15 candidates got the Ph.D Degree and 61 candidates got the M.Phil degree. He has organized 18 National Level Seminars, Workshops and Refresher Courses for college teachers. He is national level consultant of Rural Industrialization and Entrepreneurship Development. His areas of interest include Economic Reforms, Public Distribution System and Rural Entrepreneurship. He has visited many foreign countries for presenting papers in the International Conferences.
