The book includes numerous case histories and emphasizes more on the practical aspects. About P. Purushothama Raj P. Purushothama Raj is a well-known author, engineer, and lecturer. Apart from this book, Raj has written Strength Of Materials, and Soil Mechanics. Raj completed his bachelor’s degree from Madras University, master’s degrees in Engineering from Roorkee University, and went to complete his doctoral degree from Bangalore University. He began work at the University of Roorkee as a Technical Teachers trainee, after which he worked at Bangalore University, holding the position of a lecturer. Following that, Raj worked at Pondicherry Engineering College, Pondicherry, holding the post of a lecturer as well as Head of the Department of Civil Engineering. He has also held the position of the Principal of Pondicherry Engineering College. Raj currently works at the University of Madras, holding the position of the Dean, College Development Council. Raj has been presented with the Bangalore University Silver Jubilee Best Teacher Award, and he has published over 40 articles till date.
