The volume presents views of renowned economists on various aspects of Indian Economy covering Reforms of Rural Institutions, Employment and Poverty of Scheduled Castes, Agricultural Development, Indian Economy after Independence, Poverty Alleviation and Work Participation. Views have also been expressed on other important fiscal issues like Fixed Investments, Expenditure and Government role and efficiency of Policy instruments. Department of Economics, Osmania University has the privilege of bringing out the book for use of economists, research scholars, government functionaries and students. About the Author Both the Editors have put in more than 35 years of experience in the fields of teaching, research and educational administration. They worked during their long academic career in various capacities such as Lecturers, Readers, Professors, apart from holding the positions like Heads of the Department, Chairman of the Board of Studies etc. Both of them are the Research Supervisors guiding research scholars for both M. Phil and Ph.D. Degrees in Economics since Seventies. A number of candidates have taken their Doctoral Degrees under their guidance. They have completed a number of research projects sponsored by the State and Central Governments, Planning Commission, UGC, ICSSR etc. They have published quite a number of books, research papers, book reviews in both the national and international Journals. Prof. Satyanarayan was invited as a Visiting Professor by the IIIinois institute of Technology (Stuart School of Business), Chicago, U.S.A. for a period of three months from July to October 1994. He is presently holding the position as Coordinator/Director, Special Assistance Programme (Sponsored by the UGC), Department of Economics, Osmania, University.
