'Gulliver's Travels' can tickle the sides of both grown-ups and children. For those who do now want to dwell deep into it, it is a fairy tale, all imaginative. But those who read and chew whatever is read, it is a satire on the human race, our so-called civilized society. The book read seriously leaves the readers like the author dissatisfied with themselves and their beings. The vices and follies of mankind jolt the conscience of the readers and goad them to amend themselves. Satirical tone is cruel but fun and comedy depicted subdues that cruelty. The mention of Japan gives the book a mild tinge of reality. The book has a moral purpose. The author scans almost all the departments of life, and displays their stupidity, pitfalls, deficiencies, follies, defects, errors and so on. In part I, we get a replica of the royal court, the politics of England and religious divisions. In part II, the satire is of a more general nature. In part III, the abuses of science and not science itself are satired. In part IV, the satire is intense and sarcastic enough to shake mankind the compel it to read onto the path of regeneration and all-round improvement. Part I & II of this book are meant for Term I and parts III & IV are meant for Term II of class IX. This book has complete unabridged text along with the vocabulary, summary and questions with their answers based on themes, incidents, interpretation and characters.
