In Handbag, Mark Ravenhill has put together events from Oscar Wilde’s Importance of Being Earnest. The play revolves around a lesbian and gay couple who decide to have child. Summary of the Book Handbag is a play about parenthood and revolves around a lesbian couple and a gay couple. Both couples decide to have a baby together and are sure that the child would never be alone or feel neglected. Their reason for this is that it will have four parents rather than the traditional two. However, things start to change when they try to live as a family, and infidelity becomes a reason for a lot of these changes. The story only gets more shocking and disturbing as it unfolds.
