Eastwick translated several works, including the Persian Kessahi Sanjan and authored a Sindhi vocabulary and a Hindustani grammar. He was a professor at Haileybury College and became a Fellow of the Royal Society. Later, he served as a British diplomat in Persia and Venezuela. A prolific writer, Eastwick contributed to All the Year Round and published The Kaisarnamah-i-Hind.
