This book was written by E.B. Havell, principal of the Govt. School of Art in Calcutta, to assist those who desire an intellectual understanding of one of the greatest epochs of Indian Art. In the opening part the book deals with the historical background, where he omits the unimportant names and dates, attempting to give a sketch of the Mughal emperors. It then describes the works of architecture in the city of Agra and of its surroundings. There are 14 illustrations, and 4 plans in this work that was first published in 1912.
