The Hardy Boys investigate an old fort in The Haunted Fort, a mystery novel by Franklin W. Dixon. Summary of the Book Chet Morton’s uncle calls him and his friends, Frank and Joe Hardy over to a summer art school which is near an old fort. Fort Senandaga is said to be haunted, and the Hardy Boys must search its premises for two famous oil paintings. The paintings were stolen from the Prisoner-Painter collection of Jefferson Davenport, the millionaire and the sponsor of the art school. But, what deadly traps and vicious forces lurk within this ghostly fort? About Franklin W. Dixon Franklin W. Dixon is the pseudonym of several writers, all of them ghostwriting the Hardy Boys series of stories. The name was first used by a Canadian writer called Leslie McFarlane. The rights to the name and the books are owned by Simon & Schuster, a publishing house based in New York. The Hardy Boys were created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, a book-packaging firm.
