He was also a brave warrior who fought as an assault Rifle Company Commander in the Bangladesh War of 1971. He commanded an entire infantry brigade in the Punjab state. He has written several articles on Defence, History and Kashmir conflicts that have been critically acclaimed for their integrity. He is one of the most revered army men in India.
