Vijayakumar, is a comprehensive book that aids the study of the beginning and chronological evolution of temple architecture, including sculptures and carvings in India. Summary of the Book The ancient and medieval times of India saw extensive temple construction by various kingdoms. These temples have stored history in their pillar carvings, plates, inscriptions and cave facades. This book has maps, plans of caves, and a large number of illustrations that helps us to know more about the temples and the history of the times they were built in. The temples are built in different styles and the book researches its way to learn more about the materials and methods of building. Majority of the focus is on the Nagara and Dravida styles of temple construction. The hybrid form of Shikhara and Jain temples are also covered in the book. About the Authors S. P. Gupta and S. Vijayakumar are esteemed Indian authors. They are associated with D. K. Printworld. S. P. Gupta has also authored the book Elements of Indian Art.
