This is a book on horosocopy by Prithuyasas, the son of the great Acharaya Varahamihira, “Shatpanchasika”- the excellent book on Horary astrology, with which the readers must he familiar, is by the same author. Hora sara, is an excellent work for several reasons. Herein, the author has endeavoured to present material from the ancient Horas, which has been left out in Brihant Jataka of Varahamihira. The distinguishing features of this book are the following:- 1.Detailed study of longevity. 2. Judgement of progeny from the Dwadashamsha chart. 3. Influence of the Sub- period of Rahu in bringing death. 4. Consideration of the fifth house from Jupiter in the determination of birth of children. 5. Detailed description of results of Dasas (major periods) and Bhuktis (minor periods). 6. Fateful degrees of the Moon in different rasis (signs). 7. Rules to prepare the horoscope of persons whose exact time of birth is not known (i.e) Nashta Jataka Principles). The book is a valuable treasure to all practising astrologers and students.
