House Rules, by Jodi Picoult, is a poignant story of a boy with Asperger’s syndrome, accused of murder. Summary of the Book In this compelling novel, the struggle between the little protagonist and his family and the law, and his disability, have been depicted tenderly. Jacob Hunt has Asperger’s syndrome, a high-functioning form of autism. He lives with his mother, Emma, and brother, Theo Hunt. The story is conveyed from the perspectives of the leading characters. Jacob is obsessed with forensic analysis. He often feels anxious and lost when his daily activities are interrupted for inevitable reasons. One day, he is accused of a crime and his mother has to fight for him. Does the murder have anything at all to do with Jacob? Will he be convicted or acquitted? About Jodi Picoult Jodi Picoult is an American author known for her works: Plain Truth, Picture Perfect, The Pact, My Sister’s Keeper, and Second Glance. She graduated from Princeton University. She has won the New England Bookseller Award for Fiction in the year 2003. Jodi became the writer of DC Comics’ famous series, Wonder Woman, after Allan Heinberg. She currently lives in Hanover, New Hampshire.
