The week has been the worst that Sammy has had to face, and it only gets worse. Summary of the Book Sammy's week is like the worst nightmare anybody could have. He has lost his wallet and his new shoes. This may not sound like the worst till you know that he is thrashed by the police and thrown on the streets. Sounds like the worst of it, but this isn’t all. Sammy has just gone blind. He vaguely remembers that he had a bitter argument with his girlfriend. However, she is not to be seen anywhere and Sammy could not have felt more alone. The only thing keeping him company is his misery. One would think that things would get better for someone who has had such a bad time, but it only gets worse.
