He is best known for writing: Syntactic Structures, Lectures on Government and Binding: The Pisa Lectures, Perspectives on Vietnam, The Responsibility of Intellectuals, and American Power and the New Mandarins. Dr. Chomsky was awarded the Erich Fromm Prize, the Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award of the American Psychological Association, the Sydney Peace Prize, the Kyoto Prize in Basic Sciences, the Helmholtz Medal, the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science, the Dorothy Eldridge Peacemaker Award, and the Orwell Award for Distinguished Contributions to Honesty and Clarity in Public Language twice by the National Council of Teachers of English.
