I Am Number Four is a book about John Smith who is one among the nine teenagers who are members of the Garde, a group of Loric people who have special powers called ‘Legacies’. However, three of them have already been killed and John is Number Four. This means that his life is now in danger. Summary of the Book John Smith is the fourth of the Loric teens who has come from Planet Lorien. He is not your average teenager and is constantly on the lookout for his enemies. They killed Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. He is next and is aware of it. He has always moved from one small town to another, and always changes his name and identity. He does not put down his roots, and can never tell anyone who or what he really is. If he dares to stop moving, he may be caught and killed. This does not mean that he will be able to run forever. So, he stops in Ohio and attempts to settle down. He makes some really good friends and even finds love. He has never felt this way before and has never been around people who care about him. However, his enemies soon find out about his whereabouts and his secret is revealed. Will he be able to save himself? About the Authors Lorien Legacies is a series that has been written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes who go by the collective pseudonym Pittacus Lore. Pittacus Lore is a Loric Elder from Planet Lorien. He is approximately ten thousand years old and has visited Earth hundreds of times.
