I Want To Live - The Story Of Madhubala (Free VCD) reveals the life story of the erstwhile Bollywood screen goddess, the lovely Madhubala. Summary Of The Book Madhubala started her career as a child artist, at the age of eight, in order to support her family. For some years she was Baby Mumtaz. But, when she entered her mid-teens, she became Madhubala and landed leading roles. The career of a bewitching screen legend was launched. I Want To Live - The Story Of Madhubala (Free VCD) portrays the woman behind the dazzling movie persona, a woman whose life was not very happy. She was born on Valentine's Day, but she seemed destined to go through life with a broken heart, literally and figuratively. She had a chronic heart problem that was a serious threat to her health. She was also not lucky in romance, as her relationship with actor Dilip Kumar was not approved of by her father. The end of that relationship had a lasting effect on her. She was also unlucky in her subsequent marriage to Kishore Kumar, as that too ended in disaster. She died at the age of 36, lonely yet unwilling to let go of her hold on life. I Want To Live - The Story Of Madhubala (Free VCD) pieces together the story of her life through the many records in film magazines and other publications, and the reminiscences of co-stars and others who knew her. The book covers her screen career from her debut as a child star in the 1942 movie, Basant. It then traces her career as the legendary heroine of many classic movies like Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Tarana, and Mahal to the huge epic Mughal-e-Azam and beyond. Her dazzling beauty and her talent led to her meteoric rise in the film world. But that success did not reflect upon her personal life. Her life was dominated by her father’s dictates, which did not always take into consideration her own happiness. Her success happened in spite of her deteriorating health and the misery of her personal life. The book contains interesting recollections about her by many film industry personalities like Dilip Kumar, Naushad, Begum Para, Dev Anand, and Shammi Kapoor. It also includes the reminiscences of some journalists. I Want To Live - The Story Of Madhubala (Free VCD) reads like a tragedy drama, with a beautiful but doomed heroine, plagued by ill health and failed affairs of the heart, who died young.
