Snake gourd is a vine with palm-shaped leaves, leaflet-like branches and wiry stems known as tendrils. This unripe fruit appears green in colour, has a soft, fleshy texture and bland flavour. However, the ripe fruit is long, appears red and becomes inedible because of the bitter taste.
