The whole science of Immunity has had no immunity against confused thinking and confounding parlance. Nobel-laureate Burnet died wondering all his life whether Immunity is a friend or a foe. His co- Nobelist Medawar characterized Immunology as suffering from “barefaced empiricism and embarrassingly silly terminology.” Glemser, a globe-trotting journalist, commented that the science of immunology is so advanced (in its confusion) that one immunologist fails to understand what another immunologist is talking about.
