This edited volume is a modest effort to honour Prof. Manabi Majumdar who has turned recently sixty years. Majumdar’s academic career spans teaching, research and administration. Her scholarly work touches upon human developmental issues ranging from basic education, child labour, social exclusion, health to decentralization. The essays are on varied topics but are related to the areas on which Prof. Majumdar has worked during the last two decades. The contributors include Achin Chakrabarty, Asokendu Sengupta, Dayabati Roy, Dilip Ghosh, Indrashis Banerjee, Joyeeta Dey, Rahul Mukhopadhyay, Sreemoyee Ghosh and Supriya Roy Chaudhury.
