In The Wonderland of Numbers is an interesting book by Shakuntala Devi. The author attempts to highlight a very important fact: it is the responsibility of the parents to help their children develop a liking for maths. She uses a fictional story to convey this message to her readers. The story is told of Neha, who is fearful of her new mathematics teacher and becomes paranoid of maths, as a result of this. This girl then meets with an accident and loses consciousness. While her loved ones wait for her to regain consciousness, she is transported to the kingdom of Zero, in her sub-conscious mind. Her adventures in this mystical land are described through the course of this book. Shakuntala Devi is well-known for her excellent calculating skills. Her skills became known when she defeated people at card games, by memorizing the cards. In years to come, she demonstrated her mathematics skills at various universities, such as the University of Mysore and Annamalai University. This helped her gain a great deal of recognition and respect, even in other parts of the world. Some of her other books include Puzzles to Puzzle You, Book of Numbers, and Perfect Murder.
