New Directions in Indian Foreign Policy aims to explore Indian Foreign Policy since the end of the Cold War and investigate the latest trends in India’s foreign policy behaviour. The book covers a whole range of issues including India’s nuclear identity, climate change, resource crunch, aid diplomacy, India’s great power aspirations, and domestic influences on foreign policy making. Considering that the end of the Cold War is widely understood to be a game changer for Indian Foreign Policy, it is an opportune time to ask whether India has indeed embraced a new foreign policy. In other words, two decades since the end of the Cold War and the beginning of the economic liberalization process and the coalition politics in the country, what are the changes and continuities in the contemporary Indian Foreign Policy? There is a dearth of comprehensive works on India’s Foreign Policy outlook in the post-Cold War era. Thus, this book aims to fill this gap in the discipline of international politics.
