It was on 1st October 1949 when India became the first non-communist country to establish an embassy in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) 1. After eight months, on 1st April 1950, India officially established diplomatic relations with the PRC. This year 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of establishment of such relations; these seventy years, however, have proved to be tumultuous with one bloody war in 1962 and numerous border skirmishes with a few taking it to the brink of escalation. The recent events that happened, from April 27 2020, needs to be read and understood under this historical context of India-China relations.
