The book Indian Banking is in 11th year of its publication. During the past decade, Indian business has considerably expanded and changed in many respects including secured and instant financial transaction methods owing to upward influence of service sector especially the banking sector. The book has kept pace with these changes and captures the central themes of banking sector-making it both contemporary and comprehensive. The book seeks to build understanding of the main concepts and theory of modern banking. The contents of all chapters have been thoroughly revised and strengthened with latest data along with the advancement in Indian banking. This new edition includes a new chapter on Banking Technology to capture the application of technology in banking industry. It furnishes the material relevant for understanding the banking environment in Indian setting. About the Author S. Natarajan is postgraduate in Commerce with Economics from Bombay University and degree in Law with academic credits. He has completed CAIIB and Diploma in Management Studies. He worked for the Reserve Bank of India in its various departments and has worked for the Oriental Bank of Commerce on retirement from RBI. Currently he is working as leading management consultant in Mumbai. He is one of the 5-member team which brought out the comprehensive Exchange Control Manual edition and as part of a 3-member team, visited Nepal to organize and conduct forex bourse program for the bankers of Nepal. He served as a Faculty Member in the RBI Staff College, Chennai for six years. He has served as visiting faculty for many management institutions in Mumbai. His specialization includes Foreign Exchange and Risk Management, Treasury Operations, External Commercial Borrowing — policy and procedures, International Trade, Letters of Credit Mechanism, UCPDC policy guidelines and documentation, INCO terms. He has co-authored two books including Banking Law & Practice. R. Parameswaran, M.Com., M.B.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., PGDCA is Associate Professor of Commerce in T.S.A.A.S.T.College (Affiliated to Bharathiar University),Perur, Coimbatore. He secured First Rank in his Postgraduation. He has two decades of teaching experience in graduate, postgraduate and Civil Service educational programs in Indian and International settings. He has been member of Educational Committees and Boards of several organizations at national and international levels. Parameswaran is credited with writing twelve books (single and with co-authorship) for management and commerce and many articles in professional journals, newspapers at national and international levels.
