This small handbook to the city of Madras was released as a souvenir for the delegates participating in the 9th meeting of the Indian Science Congress, at Madras. Compiled in the manner of most hand-books, this edition starts with a short note on the history of the city, and proceeds to describe the notable monuments, the Connemara library, the British Museum; it further offers resumes on general education, medical education, water works and supplies. The last few chapters notice the pre-historic archaeology and geological structure of the presidency, marine zoology, the biological works, etc. This book has 8 plates of the former presidents of the Congress, and was first published in 1922
