Despite challenges, progress has been made toward gender equality in India. While about a quarter of Indians believe there is significant discrimination against women, most people share an egalitarian vision of women’s rights. However, traditional economic roles persist, with a preference for men in employment during times of scarcity. Advocacy for gender equality remains crucial for a more inclusive and equitable society.
