These books are used in fifteen of the top sixteen Computer Science Departments in America, and have been translated to more than a dozen languages. He graduated in 1971, with a BS in Mathematics and Physics from Houghton College. He then did his Ph.D in Computer Science from the Pennsylvania State University.
