Children’s are the most precious segment of human society. They are our future assets. Their programmes should find a prominent part in our national plans for development of human resources. Equal opportunities of development to all children during the period of growth should be our aim, as this would serve larger purpose of reducing inequality thereby ensuring social justice. In this book the status and rights of children in the Constitution of India and in the varieties of law has been discussed covering basic issues, like health, education and protection from hazardous employment. It shall be the policy of the state to provide adequate services to children, both before and after birth, and through the period of growth to ensure their full physical, social, and mental development.
