As for sexually transmitted diseases and infections, menstrual cups cannot be used as a contraceptive device and will not protect you against them. You must refrain from wearing a cup for longer than 12 continuous hours. Ensure that you clean your cup at least twice a day during your period, and keep it clean when you’re not using it. Make sure your hands are washed and cleaned before you insert or remove your cup. Your menstrual cup should be at a safe distance from children, pets, harmful chemicals and direct sunlight.
