Horngren was born on the October 28, 1926, and entered into the U.S Army shortly after completing his schooling. He earned his BS degree from Marquette University, in the year 1949, and worked in public accounting. Horngren completed his MBA from Harvard Business School, along with a Doctoral degree, which he completed from University Of Chicago. He has held the position of the Edmund W. Littlefield Professor Of Accounting, Emeritus, at the Stanford Graduate School Of Business. He passed away on the October 23, 2011, as a result of prolonged illness. Donna Philbrick is also a well-known professor of Accounting, who has authored several articles, and books on Accounting. Apart from this book, Philbrick has also written articles in journals like Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting Research, and many others. Philbrick holds a B.S degree from the University Of Oregon, along with an MBA, and Ph.D from Cornell University. She currently holds the position of a lecturer at the Portland State University, and has served at the University Of Oregon, and Duke University, prior to PSU. She mostly teaches courses on Financial Statement analysis, and Financial Accounting to Graduate level students.
