Michael is a renowned figure in Water Resource Development and Management. He has authored and co-authored several books on subjects related to Irrigation and Water Resource Management. Some of his other books are Water Wells and Pumps, Handbook of Farm Irrigation Structures, Design and Evaluation of Irrigation Methods, Principles of Agricultural Engineering: Agricultural Surveying, Irrigation, Agricultural Drainage, Soil and Water Conservation, Water Resources of India and their Utilisation in Agriculture, and How to Improve Irrigation Farming in India. Dr. A. M. Michael is an M.Tech. and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur. In his career that spans decades, he has been a consultant to International Organisations like the World Bank, the Director of IARI, New Delhi, and the Vice Chancellor, Kerala Agricultural University. He has also been a Resource Scientist for the University of Nairobi and the visiting professor at AIT Bangkok. He has also worked as the senior faculty in institutions such as the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Punjab Agricultural University and Rajasthan Agricultural University. Dr. A. M. Michael has been the recipient of many awards and honours such as the Dr. Rajendra Prasad Puraskar Award ICAR and the Kidwai Memorial Prize, for his outstanding contribution to the field of Water Resource Management and Development.
