Islam for Hindus is a book that talks about the beliefs and practices of Islam. It allows people of other religions to understand the principles of the religion. Summary of the Book For those of us who are curious to know more about Islam than what is told to us, reading this book will be of help. The book discusses Islam, and speaks of the similarities and differences that exist between Islam and other religions. It basically deals with the concept of Prophet Muhammad and his life. It also discusses the contents of the Quran, the Pillars of Islam, the history of Islam and the practice of Islamic law. Readers will learn about the political, legal and social framework of Islam. Aspects of Sufism are also explored by observing features like asceticism, love of God and knowledge of God. Finally, the book tries to find and form a foundation for a discussion between Hindus and Muslims. It does this by probing into verses in the Quran that talk about plurality and universality of diversity. The book is sure to give the reader a thing or two to think about. About Arvind Sharma Arvind Sharma has been a member of the faculty of Religious Studies at McGill University since 1987. Here, he gives lectures on Hinduism and comparative religion.
