Born in April 1940, Arden was also a former creative director for Saatchi and Saatchi, a global advertising agency. He is also an ardent lover of photography and art. Yet, he does not deviate from the preachings that his books hold. He and his wife owned an art gallery called Arden & Anstruther in Petworth, West Sussex.
