Lakshmi, also known as Shri, is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism. She embodies wealth, fortune, power, beauty, fertility, and prosperity. Associated with Maya (illusion), Lakshmi is revered as the prosperity aspect of the Mother goddess in Shaktism. She is both the consort and the divine energy (shakti) of the Hindu god Vishnu, assisting him in creating, protecting, and transforming the universe. Whenever Vishnu incarnates on Earth, Lakshmi accompanies him as his consort. Her iconography shows her elegantly dressed, standing or sitting on a lotus throne, holding a lotus in her hand, symbolizing fortune, self-knowledge, and spiritual liberation. Lakshmi is depicted with four hands, representing the four aspects of human life: dharma (duty), k?ma (desire), artha (wealth), and moksha (liberation). She is venerated during festivals like Deepavali (Lakshmi Puja), Sharad Purnima, Varalakshmi Vratam, and Navaratri.
