About Sunil Gangopadhyay Sunil Gangopadhyay also known as Sunil Ganguly is a prolific Bengali novelist and poet. Some of his most works include Eka o Koyekjon, Chaya Darshon, Madhu Kahini, Hathat Nirar Janya, Atmaprakash, Ekti Rat Tinti Jibon, Aamar Swapna, Kothay Alo, Jol Jongoler Kabbo, Unmochoner Muhurte, Nadir Opar, Aashray, and Purbo-Paschim. He is admired for his unique prose style. Born in Bangladesh, he completed his studies from the Surendranath College, City College, and Dum Dum Motijheel College in Kolkata. Gangopadhyay completed his M. A. in Bengali from the University of Calcutta. He was the founder editor of a poetry magazine called Krittibas. Among his many pen-names are Nil Lohit, Nil Upadhyay, and Sanatan Pathak. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi award for Those Days. He is also a recipient of the Bankim Puraskar, and Ananda Puraskar. He has more than 200 works like travelogues, short stories, children's fiction, essays, and features to his credit. He died in October 2012, in Kolkata. He was married to Swati Bandopadhyay.
