An exquisite book of photographs that creates a revealing and intimate picture of Kashmir A chronicle of more than five years of travel and quiet observation, these photographs capture the lives sometimes flourishing, occasionally stilled that endure in the face of uncertainty and violence that have become synonymous with the Valley. Soldiers march in the spring tulip gardens of Srinagar; boys jump into the Nagin Lake to cool off; the afternoon sun entangles shadows on loops of razor-wire barricades, in the middle of a street; and the biting Baramulla winter cloaks a dismembered doll with snow. About the Author In the last two decades, Amit Mehras photographs have been regularly published in Der Spiegel, Cond Nast Traveler, Architectural Digest, Gallerie, the Financial Times and National Geographic. Amits photographs have been exhibited at major art and photography festivals including the Arco Madrid art fair in Spain, the Canon Gallery in Tokyo and Chobi Mela VI in Bangladesh. He has also had exhibitions in Delhi, Mumbai, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Milan and Melbourne. Amit was honoured with the Best Photographer of the Year Award, Asia 2009, by theSagamihara City Museum, Japan, for his photography book India: A Timeless Celebration. His photographs are in the permanent collections of Gabarron Foundation Museum, Spain, and Sagamihara City Museum, Japan. Amit Mehra lives in New Delhi with his wife, Manjari Chaturvedi, and daughter, Naazo.
