Summary of the Book Karan Singh was appointed as the regent of Jammu and Kashmir two years after the princely state was merged with India in 1947. Eighteen years later, he became the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation in the then Prime Minster, Indira Gandhi’s cabinet. Karan Singh was closely associated with Mrs. Gandhi for almost the entire duration of her tenure as the PM. This book brings together over three hundred letters from the correspondence between Singh and Gandhi, who also shared a great rapport on a personal level. It also offers insight into several historic events like the Emergency, Operation Bluestar and the Tashkent Declaration, along with the finesses of workings of a government running a nation that houses one-seventh of the entire human race.
