Stevenson is one of the most translated writers in history, and has many memorials dedicated to him throughout the world. Treasure Island was adapted into several hit films, including a version in 1950 by the Walt Disney Studio, and another in 2002, entitled Treasure Planet, which adapted the story with a futuristic vein through animation.
