Kohinoor Hardtmuth Gioconda Soft Pastel Pencils are highly pigmented, lightfast, fade resistant, superior quality, buttery smooth pastel pencils with excellent blending and toning characteristics. The basic mixture of the pencils is a material called PEMZA which is a mineral on the base of volcanic glass. In addition to it, they contain clear micro-granulated natural materials like kaolin and carbonate of calcium (either calcite mineral or chalk) which are carefully mixed with coloured pigments, binders and additives. The pastel pigments are encased in precious noble wood which offers ergonomic hold while drawing, sharpens crisply and gives off minimal waste. With 4.2 mm lead diameter, this product provides excellent artistic potential to all users. GIOCONDA SOFT PASTELS 8820 line is a traditional and very popular product of the company . Its colour range is similar to that of TOISON 8500 round soft pastels range. These pencils are useful in very fine detailed drawings and act as a supplement to round soft pastels. The pencils are available individually in 48 colours and also comes in sets of 12, 24 and 48 in metal tins. The primary characteristic of these pastels pencils is that they are easily wiped off the surface, which helps to spread the colourful dust all over the surface. This painting technique offers immense possibilities of changing the capacity and tone. With smudging and erasing we can readily achieve shades in the painting. The low adhesion to the medium allows toning and the creation of simple crossing. The lightfastness of the pastels and dosed concentration influence outcome as well as the durability of the artworks. After the artwork has been completed, it is recommended to apply a preparation fixative over it to prevent subsequent blurring. No component used in production contains toxic or otherwise harmful substances and therefore the pencils are suitable for all age groups.
