Leadership 101: What Every Leader Needs To Know was published in 2002 in Hardcover version. It is considered to be a manual in leadership, in which the author gives practical exercises and tips on maximising leadership skills. A comprehensive and concise course on training and developing leaders, this book teaches the following: following one’s vision and involving others, increasing one’s ability to influence others, empowering others through mentoring, creating a foundation of trust, using self-discipline to improve one’s character and results, and many more. The author identifies four different phases in leadership development, and they are ‘I don’t know what I don’t know (lack of knowledge or ignorance towards leadership),’ ‘I know what I don’t know (an increase in knowledge and development),’ ‘I grow and I know and it starts to show (leadership growth within the life of the leader),’ and ‘I simply go because of what I know (being a leader on the basis of personal growth).’ The qualities necessary for a good leader, including having a vision, discipline, setting priorities, and developing trust, are also explained in this book. By addressing the most basic issues, the author reaffirms that anyone can develop leadership qualities and connect with people.   Dr. John C. Maxwell was born in Garden City, Michigan, in 1947. Apart from being an author, he is also a pastor, coach, and speaker. He has written more than 60 books, including The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, Talent is Never Enough, and The Journey from Success to Significance.  He is the founder of EQUIP and also conducts leadership training workshops in USA. Maxwell has a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Christian University, a Master of Divinity degree from Azusa Pacific University, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Fuller Theological Seminary. The author lives with his family in South Florida.
