His birth name was Narendranath Dutta. He passed the entrance examination in Presidency College, Kolkata, and then learnt about western logic, philosophy, and European nations’ history in General Assembly's Institution. Swami got through Fine Arts examination in 1881, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1884. He delivered a thrilling speech at Chicago and introduced Hinduism into the Parliament of the World's Religions. He died on July 4, 1902.
