Letters for a Nation, edited by Madhav Khosla, is a book that contains the letters penned by Jawaharlal Nehru to his Chief Ministers, between 1947 and 1963. Summary of the Book Nehru started writing his fortnightly letters to his Chief Ministers from October 1947. This continued as a ritual until December 1963, a few months before his death. This book contains carefully selected letters, almost 400 of them, discussing a wide spectrum of subjects like war and peace, law and order, citizenship, national progress, corruption, planning and governance, and India’s position in a global arena. These letters give a fair idea of a Prime Minister’s perspectives about the times and people of a nation after Independence. They are reflective and visionary in their nature, echoing Nehru’s statesmanship in their entirety. About Madhav Khosla Madhav Khosla studied at the National Law School, Bangalore, and Yale Law School. He is currently studying Modern Indian Political Thought at Harvard, and is a Ph.D. scholar there. Madhav has also authored the title, The Indian Constitution.
