Light in August is a novel written by William Faulkner. The story revolves around two strangers who arrive at different times in Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi. Summary of the Book Lena Grove, a young pregnant woman is looking for Lucas Burch, the father of her unborn child. When she comes to Jefferson, she finds Lucas, but he has now changed his name to Joe Christmas. In the meanwhile, Lena meets a man called Byron Brown, who falls for her, but still tries to help her find Joe. Will Lena find the man she is looking for? What will happen to Byron’s love for Lena? About William Faulkner William Cuthbert Faulkner was an American novelist, short story writer, poet, essayist and playwright. He is best known for A Fable, The Reivers, As I Lay Dying, and Absalom, Absalom! Faulkner was honoured with the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1949 and he also won the Pulitzer Prize twice. The Sound and the Fury was very loosely adapted into a film in 1959, directed by Martin Ritt.
