ABOUT THE BOOK:- The novel read as a romance, or a quest, but the family drama upholding virtue over wealth finds adapted for cinema, twice as silent film and four times with sound [1933, 1949, 1978 and 1994]. Six television series were made, including four by the BBC -2950, 2958, 1970, and 2017. The latter BBC series was supported by PBS and aired in 2018 as part of the Masterpiece Anthology. Two anime series in Japan [1980s], a musical version on Broadway [2005], with an American opera version [1998] found across the continents and filmed for broadcast on US television [2001]. Alcott mix children's romantic elements with those of sentimental novels. Four teenage sisters with mom live in Massachusetts in genteel poverty. Their pastor dad was away from home on being involved in the American civil war. The women had to stay without him on the first Xmas.
