Little Women is a classic novel by Louisa May Alcott. Summary of the Book This is the story of the four March girls: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. They are brought up in a poor household. Their mother, Marmee, takes care of them on her own while their father is a union chaplain in the Civil War. The book relates their lives and their love lives, explaining how the girls grow up and ultimately get married. It has become an immortal classic for young girls and accurately portrays the life of women in 19th century America. Its characters have stayed familiar to all readers throughout generations and are as recognizable as they were when it was first published.
