Little Women is a beautiful and moving story about four loving sisters. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are not from a very well-to-do family and their father is away fighting the Civil War, but they have a very strong bond as sisters. Summary of the Book Christmas is not going to be what it used to be for Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Their father is away fighting the war, but the four have the strongest bond and this is enough to ensure each other is happy. Lately, they have been facing a lot of difficulties, but have been doing what they can to make ends meet. They even have their own share of fun and have a secret society. Their quarrels and sadness does not get in the way of making the most of what they have and being happy. They lead very different lives as they are four very different individuals. As time goes, they learn about how hard life can get, but it is easier to survive when they have each other. About Louisa May Alcott Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist who is best known as the author of Little Women. The book has two sequels to it: Little Men and Jo’s Boys. Her parents were transcendentalists and she had the opportunity to grown up among many intellectuals of the time who are well-known even today, like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau. She received appreciation for her writing in the 1860’s, and has sometimes use the pen name A. M. Barnard that was used for her novels for young adults.
