Little Women is a story that revolves around the sweet and loving March sisters who will make you laugh and cry. Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy are not from a very well-to-do family and their father is always at war, but they have the strongest bond as sisters. Summary of the Book The book tells us the story of Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. They are four sisters who come from a family that does not have a lot of money, but these sisters have an extremely strong bond. As their father is always away at war, they need to manage their lives on their own and face all their hardships. They do this by working together and through their love for each other. They have their own share of fun and have a secret society. Even with all their sisterly quarrels, sadness and heartaches, they maintain their relationship. The four of them lead very different lives and learn that life can sometimes be very hard. Still, everything is easier when they have each other for company. About Louisa May Alcott Louisa May Alcott was an American novelist who is best known as the author of Little Women. The book has two sequels to it: Little Men and Jo’s Boys. Her parents were transcendentalists and she had the opportunity to grown up around many intellectuals of the time who are well-known even today, like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau. She received appreciation for her writing in the 1860’s, and has sometimes used the pen name A. M. Barnard for her novels for young adults.
