About Charlotte Brontë Charlotte Brontë was an English novelist, best remembered for this and her other novels: Shirley, Villette and The Professor. Charlotte was the eldest of the three Brontë sisters, and along with Emily and Anne, she has risen into the list of greatest writers to have ever been published. Jane Eyre was adapted into several films, most recently by Cary Fukunaga in 2011 starring Mia Wasikowska as Jane Eyre, Michael Fassbender as Rochester and Judi Dench as Mrs. Fairfax.
