Lord Edgware Dies is the ninth mystery novel to feature Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. Summary of the Book Hercule Poirot is stumped when the actress Jane Wilkinson comes to him to help her “get rid of” her husband, the wealthy Lord Edgware. Poirot dismisses her, telling her that he doesn’t work such cases. She leaves, and Poirot almost forgets about her. That is until Lord Edgware turns up dead, and all eyes look towards Jane as the number one suspect. However, this piques Poirot’s interest: Lord Edgware had given his wife the divorce she so desired and she had no motive for murder. To add to the problem, she also has a strong alibi for the time of the murder, she was at a party and her attendance was prominently publicized in the newspaper the next day. Is this really the murder it appears to be or has someone else managed to claim the advantage of Jane’s emotions to put the blame on her? Rest assured, Poirot’s grey cells won’t stop until he finds the answers. About Agatha Christie Agatha Christie was an English novelist best known for her murder mystery novels.
