Lords of the Bow: The Epic Story of the Great Conqueror, by Conn Iggulden, is the second instalment in the Conqueror series. Summary of the Book Lords of the Bow portrays Genghis Khan’s determination to conquer China and exacting vengeance on the Chin dynasty. At the beginning of the 12th century, Khan has done the improbable. He has united the combatant Mongol clans into one ferocious fighting machine. To quench his thirst for revenge and take control of the trading and military power of the dynasty, Khan marches his tribes through the Gobi Desert. Along the way, he and his army conquer states and burn cities, making allies and slaying millions of people as they march towards the city of Yenking, today’s Beijing. After a prolonged siege of murder attempts and spying, the Chinese, who were forced to famish, submit by having the boy King kneel in front of Genghis Khan. When the Chinese try to break the peace treaty, Genghis is forced to send his brothers into the city to ruin everything. The book not only talks about war, but will give readers a preview of the intimate relationships between Genghis, his brothers, and their families. It also chronicles the transformation that occurs when two different cultures are forced to confront each other under do-or-die situations. About Conn Iggulden Conn Iggulden is a British writer known for historical novels. He has also written the Emperor series, telling the story of the early Roman Empire, and Blackwater. His work, The Dangerous Book for Boys, won the Book of the Year award at the Galaxy British Book Awards in 2007.
