"Lost with Lieutenant Pike" is set in the early 19th century and follows the adventures of Zeb Johnson, a young frontiersman, and his friend, a Delaware Indian named Taffy. The novel begins with the arrival of Lieutenant Zebulon Pike in St. Louis, Missouri, on a mission to explore the newly acquired Louisiana Purchase territories.Zeb, eager for adventure, joins Pike's expedition as a guide and interpreter. Together with a diverse group of explorers, they set out into the uncharted wilderness, facing numerous challenges and dangers along the way. As they journey westward, they encounter hostile Native American tribes, treacherous terrain, and harsh weather conditions.The novel chronicles Pike's expedition as they navigate the Missouri River, traverse the Great Plains, and eventually reach the Rocky Mountains. Along the way, they must contend with conflicts within the group, as well as external threats from rival explorers and indigenous peoples.
